Latency Mitigations

Latency Mitigations

  1. We use Cloudflare's global edge network, this ensures you are served from a datacenter closest to you.
  2. We keep a direct Websocket connection open during your quiz to eliminate TCP related latency overheads.
  3. No contention, as every user/quiz pair runs in its own dedicated small server. This is why you need the "Prepare" step before taking a quiz.
This also means, other players cannot slow you down by keeping the server busy.
  4. We continuously monitor your average network latency and automatically compensate for it in your score.

Note: Even with these fixes, an unstable internet connection can still affect your score.

For best results, make sure you have a good, fast internet connection when taking quizzes.

  • Use a wired ethernet connection when possible
  • Close other bandwidth-heavy applications
  • Test your connection before starting quizzes

Repetition Mitigations

We have lots of questions covering many topics, and we keep adding more to keep the game interesting.

Each question has a difficulty rating, and related subjects, so we can match it to the right quiz criteria.

When you start a quiz, you get your own random set of questions based on subject and difficulty. This means you'll almost never see the exact same questions as another player.

Each question has several right answers and several wrong answers. We pick one right answer and three wrong answers at random.

We then mix up the order of these answers. This means that even if you get the same question as someone else, you'll probably see different answers in a different order.

Bots, AI and LLMs

We use special tools to detect and stop people from using bots, AI, or language models to play automatically.

We record every quiz session and check these recordings carefully to spot any unusual patterns that might show someone isn't playing themselves. We can look at these recordings in detail if needed.

We have multiple checks in place that look at how people play to make sure everyone follows the rules.

While AI language models are advanced, humans are still faster at answering questions - especially about topics they know well. Your brain can answer much quicker than any AI system can process and respond.

If you want to build bots, you can join our special quizzes just for bots to compete against each other.

These quizzes are clearly marked as bot-only competitions. Human players should not participate in these quizzes.

If you use bots or automated tools in regular quizzes, we will close your account and you will lose all your coins.
